Handwoven in Miag-ao, Iloilo, this Hablon plaid fabric features a traditional checkered pattern in tones of red, orange, and yellow.
Hablon weaving in Miag-ao, Iloilo, dates back to the pre-colonial era and was a significant part of the town’s economy. The term “hablon” comes from the Hiligaynon word “habol,” meaning “to weave.” Miag-ao was renowned for producing multi-colored woven textiles, such as the traditional patadyong, even before the arrival of Spaniards.
The fabric measures 30 inches in width and is sold per meter. It can be cut and sewn based on specific design preferences—suitable for clothing, accessories, or decorative use.
