Hands-on cultural immersion held at Sentro Artista, Katipunan

Last June 7, 2025, Hibla Philippines brought the beauty of indigenous textile heritage to the heart of Katipunan with Binakol 101: Weave Your Way!—a hands-on workshop celebrating the storied Binakol weave.

Held at Sentro Artista, a hub for local creativity and collaboration, the session introduced participants to the mesmerizing Kusikos pattern—an iconic Binakol motif known for its hypnotic spirals symbolizing protection, motion, and balance. Attendees explored the art of weaving using beginner-friendly frame looms, learning techniques passed down through generations of Filipino artisans.

Binakol 101 forms part of Hibla’s ongoing mission to make Philippine weaving more accessible, especially to younger generations and urban communities. With initiatives like this, Hibla hopes to keep ancestral knowledge alive—thread by thread, story by story.
